Major responsibilities
- Use data analysis, and statistical and machine learning techniques to develop solutions to minimize customer experience problems and financial risk on marketplace transactions.
- Analyze and understand large amounts of Amazon’s historical business data for specific instances of risk or broader risk trends
- Design, development and evaluation of highly innovative models for risk management
- Work closely with software engineering teams to drive model/solution implementations and new feature creation
- Work closely with operations staff to maximize decision quality and optimize operations efficiency
- Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, and model development, validation and implementation
- Track general business activity and providing clear, compelling management reporting on a regular basis
- Communicate, persuade and influence senior management
- Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches
Basic Qualifications
- MS in CS machine learning, Statistics, Operation Research or in a highly quantitative field
- 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in predictive modeling and large data analysis
- Record of delivering large analytical solutions with big business impact
- 3+ years SAS/R/Matlab, SQL and Perl (or similar scripting language)
- Communication and data presentation skills
- Problem solving ability
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in CS machine learning, Statistics, Operation Research
- Strong skills with Java/C++/Perl
