JOB SUMMARY
At Code.org we build and support computer science curriculum that reaches millions of students, and we prepare tens of thousands of teachers to begin teaching computer science each year. Collectively our curricula and our Code Studio platform have become the most popular tools for teaching K-12 computer science.
As part of the Research, Evaluation, and Data Team the Program Evaluation Analyst will help internal and external partners put measures in place to make the impact of our programs visible, and to empower teams to drive their work forward based on data. The ideal candidate is someone who’s passionate about digging into data and making sense of it all; someone with tremendous curiosity for finding answers with data.
In this role, you will:
Providing guidance and assistance to internal teams on the process and technical implementation of evaluation measures, data collection, analysis, and data presentation.
Being the key liaison to the Education team to develop and execute evaluation of programs.
Developing a deep understanding about our students and teachers and their experiences in our curriculum and our professional learning programs in order to help them be successful in their classroom.
Job responsibilities will include:
Implementing and helping design measurement instruments (surveys, Tableau data dashboards, etc.) for use on our platform.
Collaborating with the Education Programs team, including supporting their survey implementation, data analysis and performance measures.
Working with staff and partners to design and build tools, and views into data; analyzing and presenting data with appropriate tools (esp. spreadsheets, SQL, and Tableau).
Responding to ad hoc data requests from internal teams by pulling data from databases, and doing quick-turnaround analyses.
Doing exploratory analysis and investigations into the organization’s data for purposes of quality assurance, producing datasets for analysis, and developing key education or program insights.
Supporting data sharing efforts required for external partnerships and relationships with school districts, donors, and other researchers and organizations.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
As our ideal candidate, you have the following qualifications:
Commitment to the mission and driving equity in Computer Science Education
Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences to fully understand the experiences of our students, teachers, facilitators, and regional partners resulting in significantly deeper learning and impact
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to produce clear reports to communicate meaningful findings to others
Familiarity with program evaluation and performance measurement
Experience developing processes for data collection, analysis and reporting
Technical proficiency with data management in spreadsheets
Basic SQL skills
Familiarity with creating data visualizations (Tableau or similar)
2+ years experience working with data in a similar role
Prior experience or familiarity with managing or executing program evaluation in education contexts is preferred, but not required.
In addition, you:
Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
Must pass a pre-employment background check
WHAT IS THE INTERVIEW PROCESS LIKE?
Step 1: Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience (30 minutes)
Step 2: Homework (3-4 hours)
Step 3: Interview with several members of the Research, Evaluation, and Data Team (4 interviews + 1 hour break, 5 hours total)
Step 4: Final Interview with Marina Taylor, VP of Product + Meet & Greet with 2-3 members of the Code.org team (1.5 hours)
Step 5: Reference checks
All interviews are currently being conducted virtually via Google Meet
