Overview:

We are looking for a search architect to join our search platform development team. The position offers a great opportunity to apply complex information retrieval techniques, ad targeting with geospatial constraints. We are determined to use the latest technologies and hardware, and fully utilize open source software.

A successful candidate must have 5+ years’ experience designing and building highly scalable solutions in the area of information retrieval - full text search, data mining, machine learning, etc.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain high quality software to support search metadata (taxonomy, heading analysis tool, etc.)
Provide technical and architectural leadership and be a primary contact for architecture pertaining to search
Communicate and coordinate activities with other teams such as QA, BA, and infrastructure
Participate in requirements discussions with end users and product owners
Work with architects and team leads to determine architecture, design, and implementation strategies
Support production systems
Encourage and follow best practices in software development lifecycle like test-driven development, code reviews, etc.
Work with offshore developers and give them guidance as needed

Requirements:

Solid experience in one or more of the following areas

Commercial or open source search engines – preferably Lucene/Solr
Multi dimensional results ranking and indexing data
Machine learning, classifiers
Natural language processing
Ontology and Knowledge Acquisition Systems
Distributed processing , sharded architectures and ability to handle large amounts of data using map/reduce paradigm using hadoop
Knowledge of fundamental algorithms and data structures
Great communication skills
