Assistant VP of Institutional Research and Chief Data Officer

Coordinate the administrative work flow processes among the various units reporting to the Vice President and/ or Associate Vice President or Provost; perform other related duties as assigned.
Reporting to the Interim Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, the Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research provides strategic leadership to the organization responsible for identifying information needs; collecting analyzing, interpreting and reporting data and information; planning and evaluating operational and budgetary needs; serving as steward of data and information; and educating information producers, users and consumers.
The primary responsibilities of the AVP are to:
- Direct and/or produce institutional research studies in the areas as peer benchmarking, policy analysis, comprehensive program review, salary equity, faculty productivity, student enrollment, retention, graduation, cost and revenue.
- Oversee the completion of various surveys including Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System (IPEDS), U.S. News and World Report, Princeton Review, Wintergreen/Orchard House, Peterson's Guide, etc. Oversee research of national trends in education using tools such as IPEDS and CDS.
- Respond to ad-hoc data requests from University's internal and external constituents.
- Act as the Kennesaw State University Chief Data Officer and serve as liaison to University System of Georgia's department of Research and Policy Analysis.
- Establish key measures and continuous improvement opportunities to help University leadership appropriately set goals and monitor progress toward strategic targets.
- Oversee the collection, analysis and reporting of a wide variety of data to determine trends, cycles, and underlying factors that impact institutional effectiveness.
- Guide the development of analytic models to identify opportunities for improvement in planning, retention, enrollment, staffing and financial aid as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in policy, economics, business, education, sociology, statistics, computer science or related field and 8 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A terminal degree is preferred.
- Related experience in higher education, and particularly in institutional research.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible leadership and management experience in research design, data collection and retrieval, statistical analysis and reporting, and people management.
- Ability to communicate complex data, information, and analytical results.
- To be able to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal (i.e., administrators, faculty, staff, and students) as well as external constituents (i.e., University System of Georgia).
- Experience working with large-scale databases and complex analytic systems to deliver innovative solutions to serve institutional data, information, and analytic needs.
- Strong analytical, communication (written and oral), research, and presentation skills required.
- Ability to respond quickly, accurately, and effectively to requests for data, information, and analytics for all sources.
- Ability to prioritize internal and external ad-hoc data requests as well as analytic projects.
- Expertise with statistical software and applications including Microsoft Excel, Oracle, and SAS.
- Knowledge of analytical models and their usage in higher education.
- Ability to work independently and in teams with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
