Technical Manager, Customer Analytics

This Technical Manager position is part of the Customer Analytics team working to support targeted Marketing. You will perform disciplined and detailed analysis/modeling/segmentation of Rewards customer data that enables Sears Holdings Corporation (SHC) to grow, engage, and retain its diverse customer base across all formats. You will act as a champion of fact based data driven insights on customer behavior and lifetime value that direct change in the business and drive incremental revenue. You will help with the test design, execution, and presentation of results to the business partners.
As a senior analytical team member within the department, the Technical Manager will work closely with his/her manager and other team members to ensure statistically sound test and control practices are followed. He/she will mentor less experienced members of the team on statistical methods.
Responsibilities/Skills/Experience Requirements
- Set up experimental designs to answer business questions
- Gather data, apply rigorous analysis methods, and synthesize conclusions into recommendations.
- Leverage state-of-the-art data mining tools and modeling techniques to solve business problems.
- Develop, maintain and enhance statistical models to help generate profitable incremental sales in marketing.
- Develop profitable customer contact management strategies to orchestrate our go-to-market programs
- Conceptualize modeling framework, define data requirements, create predictive variables, and coordinate model implementation with other business partners.
- Prepare documentation for developed analysis support for business strategies.
- Demonstrate leadership by successfully managing medium to large projects
- Use analytics to provide business recommendations to senior management and advise other business partners
- Provide guidance and help develop more junior associates
- Acquire solid understanding of Sears businesses to drive our culture, of focus on the customer, make more money, and improve everyday.
Qualifications
- MS or MA in Mathematics, Statistics, economics or other related fields with emphasis in quantitative methods.
- Expertise with multivariate statistical analysis including regression, regression tree, logistic regression, cluster analysis and ANOVA.
- At least 4 to 6 years of applied data mining experience (in disciplines such as credit scoring, financial services marketing, portfolio risk analytics)
- Role specific abilities/skills
- High proficiency in SAS, SQL, SAS Macros and other programming tools
- Ability to perform statistical analysis on large datasets
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment
- Excellent technical and analytical skills
- Must be able to communicate technical results to a non-technical audience
- Proficient in using a broad spectrum of consumer information databases
- Familiarity with industry leading database lists and direct marketing concepts is an added advantage
- The candidate must demonstrate a pattern of success in using advanced quantitative analytic methods to solve business problems
- Very good organizational skills, including time management and multi-tasking
