Statistician job at Wayfair

Job Description

Wayfair is currently looking for a quant jock to sift through terabytes of data to create models that calculate optimal prices for millions of products worldwide. This Statistician will play a leading role in brainstorming and testing theories.

Job Responsibilities:

Model elasticity and cannibalization effects
Analyze data from multiple sources including competitor prices, sales, inventory, product, and customer databases to inform new pricing theories
Code pricing logic
Measure the impact of pricing on sales and profit

Qualifications:

1-3 years of statistician experience strongly desired
Master's Degree or Ph.D in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, or other concentrations with heavy quantitative focus strongly preferred
Experience or internships in a data-focused, quantitative role
Experience with and strong interest in statistical modeling
Experience with or interest in internet marketing
Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems
Interest in a test-and-learn, statistics-based approach to program development
SQL experience is not required, but aptitude for learning SQL is required
Interest in working hard, being challenged in a fast-paced environment, and having fun while doing it
