We’re Ask.com’s search intelligence team: a fast-moving, data-driven, product-oriented group that builds systems and models that improve the way Ask.com responds to the user. A group of data scientists and software engineers, we focus on natural language processing and text classification. We love data, building models, running experiments, and then writing efficient, high-quality software that turns data insights into data-driven products.

Your task

Design, develop, and launch new text classifiers.
Produce and document efficient, low-defect code and solutions.
Participate in a full project life-cycle environment: design, build, test, release, support, enhance.
Improve and enhance the product’s technology by bringing new ideas and methods into the team.
Work closely with other team members as well as horizontally with other groups at Ask.com to implement new and improve existing products, services, and technology.

Your skills
Candidates that are a good fit usually possess the following traits:

Completed post-graduate study in natural language processing, machine learning, information retrieval, or related areas.
Comfort with programming in Python, R, or Java. (Python is a plus.)
Experience with some of the following: SQL, NoSQL; Git; Solr; Hadoop; C/C++; Ruby.
Experience working with some kind of language data.
Familiarity with existing tools such as NLTK, Weka, scikit-learn.
Ability to develop prototypes based on proprietary or open source tools.
