Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- SQL development experience to include:
- Gather business requirements and transform them into logical and physical database mode
- Create detailed database design specification
- Develop stored procedures, triggers, scripts to provide the database support for multiple application development teams
- Experience debugging, tuning, modifying and creating complex stored procedure
- ASE administration experience to include:
- Perform database monitoring, tuning and performance optimization
- Install, maintain, administer and tune Sybase ASE 15 instances
- Plan future database capacity requirements
- Monitor usage and performance of databases and underlying software/hardware and identify/resolve problems or potential problems prior to their occurrence
- Plan, develop, test and execute: DB backup & recovery, data changes, schema changes, DB housekeeping, scripts, user account & access, replication, software upgrades, system recovery and data warehouse loading and integration
Experience and Skills:
- Effectively communicate and interact with various teams within the firm: Linux/Network/SAN admins, TradeDesk support, Application developers, Traders, Clearing, Compliance, etc
- Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- 5+ years of SQL skills on a Sybase environment
- 5+ years of Sybase administration skills on Unix/Linux
- Scripting experience, preferably in Perl/Python/Shell
- Sybase ASE 15 experience, Sybase IQ a plus, Sybase Replication a plus
- Data warehousing experience – has worked with large datasets – preferably IQ
- Experience with BI and ETL tools
- Business experience in finance/banking
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast paced environment
- BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
- Weekend and off hours on call schedule
